Another reason I'm proud to live in East Tennessee...

Please take a close look at her outfit here. Leopard print, feathers, glitter and sprinkles...I had no idea she covered this song and am thinking it must have been at Dollywood. If you're reading this from East Tennessee or know anything about East Tennessee the fact that we ADORE our native daughter Dolly should be old news and you're probably clicking out of this blog right now and looking at Perez Hilton.

But I don't care. I'll sing her praises more. This Christmas we had a Dolly Angel on top of our tree (essentially, a picture of Dolly's face taped to the angel on the top of the tree...)

The tie in? Dolly created the Imagination Library. This program in Tennessee (and now in Canada and the UK!) makes it possible for every child under 5 to get a book a month from birth in the mail. For free. These books are really high quality and age appropriate for your kid. We've gotten some of the classics like Eric Carle's Shapes and Gramatky's Little Toot. Plus new favorites (for us) like Rooster Can't Cock a Doodle Do, and we were introduced to the simple genius that is Anna Dewdney (among many many many others)...if you are in Tennessee or Canada or the UK and have a child under five...you need to sign your child up for this. Free books once a month. In your mailbox...(http://www.imaginationlibrary.com/)

We have Dolly to thank for this and for her amazing spirit that she shares with us here in East Tennessee and around the world....we have her to thank for her amazing songs...and for those wigs and those outfits. I think she's going to be sainted.

I also want to tell you that I just got offered the new 9 to 5 musical with Dolly! I did the workshop and she was about the nicest person i have ever met in my entire life. And TEENY. All my love to you and happy that you are so happy! xo!

I'm not technically a fully classified librarian. Yet. I'm a library professional. Which means I don't have my MLS. Just wanted to claify that because the ref. librarians will KICK me. :) Love to Tory!

I'm sad because I've only seen her on a parade float! But that's also the only way I've seen Al Gore.
