Day

It's a day you put
in a thin, smooth, silver box
and put in a drawer*


Yes, I know that "drawer" is technically two syllables. Where I come from (Southern Ohio and Eastern Tennessee)it's one syllable, though. Droor. Not Drawwor. I am not a Beale. It's droor. Said with a mouthful of marbles.

So far today has been lovely lessons made into impromptu games after sleeping in, surprise snow showers that force the mind and body to rest a bit, playing restaurant and finding just the right verses. New books and old books. Genuinely laughing at the same television show and doing the hokey pokey in the living room. That's what today is.
