Thanks, Erin! And a Haiku.

Emerald Sara
Your pink and lavender silks,
Tossed for crow feathers

I received a sweet blog award from Erin a few days ago. I wish I had the time to bestow it on all of the blogs that I read frequently and admire, but as it is I am writing this into a notepad .txt @ work and have to sneak in my erratic blogging. I do write at home, but it's deeply focused now on a project that Gary and I are working on.

It's coming along like warm bath water, filling the resevoir of thought and creative process, by the way. I'm so excited about our venture. One day soon maybe I'll expell forth great musings about it. Or not. It's in a locket now.
Tucked away until it comes out of its chyrsalis.

So thank you, Erin! I will do the first bit of the award, which is to pronounce 10 honest bits about myself. I'm going to shorten the list to seven, because I'm just like that.

(1. I have met many of my close friends on line. Not in a creepy way but through venues such as this blog. Some live far, far away, some live in the town I just moved from. I don't see it as antisocial but rather that I've met these friends via my great love: writing.

(2. Sometimes I think we shouldn't have moved here. But almost instantanteously after thoughts like these God shows me something miraculous. The last time it was a sunrise unlike one I've never seen, pink and blue cotton candy clouds, streaks of orange across the sky, mountains gold with turning birch leaves. This was right after we turned out of our street on our morning commute. When this happens I immediately slap my forehead.

(3. I am a haiku-writing addict. I write them all day. I dream in haiku.

(4. I really miss being a stay-at-home/work-from-home mom. But I'm glad Xander is in preschool. I just wish he didn't have
to be there for 8.5 hours. :(

(5. Our house is probably going to be foreclosed on, the one we don't live in anymore. We're trying for a short sale now. It's a long, annoying, stupid story and I don't really want to share it, ever. I'll probably never be a homeowner or a landlord again and THIS IS FINE BY ME.

(6. That Soulemama person annoys me with her perfection and smushy face.

(7. I feel a deep connection with magpies. I'll stop and chit chat with them.

(8. (I know I said I was only going to do 7, but what can I say? I'm a free spirit who can't be tied down...)
I have a deep love and deep annoyance of mankind. Most days I would prefer to have little to no human contact outside of my
immediate family. I also need at least two or three hours a day entirely to myself. This is why I love writing and strive to make it my life's work. Lonely and alone are two different things for me.

New gardens

My chest was pinched tight
Southern gardens greatly missed
Purple north transcends

We have been missing the UT Gardens.
But we don't miss them anymore, thanks to this amazing place:

I used to do this in this space, every Wednesday a photo and a haiku. Several photos, still just one haiku:

Sick at home: create
Calm that centers to this place
New grace to ask for...

Why I took the ads off of the blog.

....Because $3.14 cents over four months isn't enough to even buy a gallon of gas.

Will talk more later about some of the children's books I've been reading, or I'll rephrase: Haven't been reading. The new Sedaris book is finally in my hands after so many holds being on it in the library system. So, thanks to someone in my blogroll, I saw this lurrrrrrrrrrrvey owl icon that you see to your right. I'm over all the ads. This is part of the simplification of Chrissy and family.

Oh, but it's Photo and a Haiku Wednesday! It's been so long!

Photo and a Haiku Wednesday: the sick cat edition

Poor little fella
I don't mind that you threw up
pink all over me

I love this crazy cat so much. Even when he meows at 5:00 am for a bowl of milk, I love him as I throw a pillow at him. Bela has what "rarely happens in cats" (according to the vet)-a middle ear infection. It's so bad his eardrum is ruptured. He just started acting sick on Monday...it's not serious or anything, he's been given a steroid shot, an antibiotic shot, and we have to give him three doses of penicilin a day...um, FOR A MONTH. Which is fun because as you read in the haiku, the first round was vomited out all over my hand...but he'll get better. He's our Tybalt the King of Cats, and I won't let that wimpy Romeo get him.

"What, drawn, and talk of peace! I hate the word
As I hate hell, all Montagues, and thee:
Have at thee, coward!"

Photo and a Haiku Wednesday

...albeit a tad early. We're having problems getting an electrician to fix the 'minor' problem we're having, and I don't know if we'll have the available wattage to power this contraption tomorrow.

All respectable
engineers and conductors
sip Sprite through a straw

...and listen here: just in case you're thinking, "My goodness! I could never be as clever or quick-witted as Chrissy is with her ingenious haiku's...they're golden!" Don't feel so sorrowful. I'll let you in on a secret: I count the syllables on my fingers. Every single Wednesday.

Photo and a Haiku TueWednesday

I'm posting this a bit early because I have a funny feeling tomorrow is going to be more typical Wednesday than usual...so here we go. The photo:

The haiku:

X knows to throw down
Gangsta Lean Ohio Style
Rock the Cavalier

...I think that's the weirdest yet. I don't think I should ever push the early Photo and a Haiku again. I can't be held accountable for it.

Theussical The Muthical

Because dag nabbit it just lends itself to lisping, doesn't it?
Seussical was cute. I was so impressed with the Library's efforts and organization and how it was a packed house! Kudos to Jackie for putting it all together. Xander dug the first hour but then got antsy. The theatre impressed him, but he kept saying the singing was "too loud". He told me his favorite part was 'the girl sleeping' (the only quiet part)...bless him. I know he wanted to see an orchestra. Must see about getting him tickets to the young people's symphony concert...OH, but it's Haiku and a photo Wednesday! So here's a picture from last night.

Happy Wednesday, and I'm really excited for tomorrow's post. I read a really wonderful J-Bio that I'm going to review.

Photo and a Haiku Wednesday

I promise to write about yesterday's adventures soon! But this library lady is so tired...and it's time for...

The photo:

The haiku:

This is my Grandma
She once danced the jitterbug
In the old basement

**am currently reading a j-fiction for tomorrow's review...hopefully it will be finished by tomorrow's post**

G'night!

What to do when you only have 10 minutes for an entry?

All right, so I'm thinking the new Wednesday theme is haiku and a photo....So, without further delay.

Have a great Wednesday, everyone. And by everyone, I do mean one.
